About the Track
Avant Garde by Rip Damon
This first track of the album In Memoriam pt.1,
Words from Rip Damon
“When I started working on this piece I did it with the intention of creating something to meditate to, something that could excite the mind but not distract it away too much, I wanted to make something that could help create a kind of flow state in the imagination. I felt that the main melody should always be present, never changing. Like an intention. But the rhythm changes in complexity – as things do through-out time. The melody stays neutral throughout meaning the mind can contextually responds to the volume changes, positively or negatively depending on the journey.
Here you sail upon the pulsating water, on forever rolling waves.
For a while this piece didn’t really have a name, “Avant Garde” comes from what people were calling it after I’d shown them how you should listen to this piece. It’s rather simple. Close your eyes and empty your mind, listen to the music, just let your mind take you where it wants to go. With practice you can create and experience your own art within. You are your own art”
About the Album
In Memoriam pt.1
Rip Damon’s debut album
Powerful, dark and raw. A beautiful blend of multiple genres and sub-genres, expertly crafted together conjuring a very unique production style. Rips style of producing has a very defined structure to it, coining his own term for it “Limbowave”. A music production aesthetic that is defined by its slowed-down rhythm, deep distant bass, dark melodious overtones, an aged /raw quality, and of course not forgetting; a very heavy amount of reverberation.
